About Harbor 14
Harbor 14: An Affordable Small Sailboat for Everyone
100% Made in the USA by the WD Schock Corporation, celebrating its 70th year in 2016!
The Harbor 14 daysailer is the perfect small sailboat for kids and beginners, but is also an easy and enjoyable way for any sailor to spend an afternoon on the water. The roller furling jib and mainsail lazy jacks make sail handling quick and painless - you will jump on the boat and be sailing within minutes. The boom is high enough to provide plenty of clearance during a tack or jibe. An optional electric motor will get you in and out of a tight dock or a crowded mooring field, or get you back to land if the wind dies!
The Harbor 14 features a 250 lb keel for unmatched stability in a small sailboat, but that stability does not come at the expense of lively sailing. All sailors will enjoy the responsiveness of the Harbor 14, and yacht/sailing clubs will grow participation with a racing fleet that appeals to all racers: casual & hard core, experts & newcomers, young &.....not so young!
COMFORTABLE & SPACIOUS COCKPIT
The elimination of the centerboard creates a large and spacious cockpit. This unobstructed cockpit offers enough room for a family, and full length cockpit cushions will keep everyone comfortable. The cockpit is 8' long and seats 6 people on uniquely contoured seats. These seats are inside the cockpit, so the crew stays dry and the kids are happy and secure. The cuddy is large enough to store a cooler, anchor, and small water toys.
RACE WITH YOUR KIDS...OR AGAINST THEM!
As junior sailors outgrow entry level dinghies like the Optimist, the Harbor 14 is a great introduction to keel boating - which is what most of us enjoy as adults. The Laser, 420, etc will always be an attractive option for some, but only a small fraction of kids will train for the Olympics or a career in pro sailing. Most kids that ultimately develop a lifelong passion for sailing will transition into keelboats, and the Harbor 14 is the perfect small sailboat to learn teamwork and important skills like handling two sails, efficient sail trim, racing tactics, docking, etc.
AFFORDABILITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Many sailors are drawn to dinghies due to the higher costs of most keelboats, but the base price for a new Harbor 14 is comparable to many new dinghies. Built to last, the Harbor 14 is a daysailer that the whole family or club can enjoy for years to come. The hull and deck are constructed of hand laid-up fiberglass, and the mast and boom are anodized aluminum. Extra reinforcing throughout the hull and deck makes the Harbor 14 rugged and durable, and maintenance is kept at a bare minimum. A little polishing now and then is all you'll need. There are large flotation tanks in the bow and both cockpit seats that make the Harbor 14 self-righting and easy to bail.
At 525 lbs, the Harbor 14 is trailerable without the need for a large vehicle, and the trailer can easily be pushed around the blacktop to hoist from a sailing club crane. At only 2' 2" draft, virtually any body of water is fully accessible.
FUN, RESPONSIVE, COMFORTABLE, SIMPLE, AFFORDABLE, APPEALING TO ALL AGES...THE HARBOR 14 - THE BEST SMALL SAILBOAT!
